Forest Therapy: Who It’s For and Why It Matters
Embracing our wildlife call
In a world that moves fast, forest therapy offers something rare: an invitation to slow down.
Forest therapy is also known as “forest bathing” or Shinrin-yoku, a practice of intentionally spending time in nature to support physical, mental, and emotional well-being. It’s not about distance, speed, or performance. It’s about presence, awareness, and reconnecting with the natural world through your senses.
At Among the Trees, forest therapy invites you to leave daily routines and find calm, curiosity, and connection.
What Is Forest Therapy?
Forest therapy is a guided, slow-paced experience designed to help you notice what’s already around and within you. Through gentle prompts and sensory invitations, participants are encouraged to listen, observe, touch, breathe, and simply be as they would like in the forest.
There is no right way to experience forest therapy. You can walk, sit, wander, or rest. Some guests even bring a blanket. Silence is welcome. So is conversation. The goal isn’t to “accomplish” anything. If anything the time is to allow the forest to do what it naturally does best: restore balance.
Who Is Forest Therapy For?
Forest therapy is for anyone who feels the pull to slow down. To connect.
You don’t need outdoor experience, fitness goals, or meditation practice. Forest therapy meets you where you are and adapts to your comfort level. It’s especially supportive for people experiencing stress, burnout, mental fatigue, or a sense of disconnection possibly from themselves, from others, or from nature.
It’s also a meaningful experience for couples, families, and small groups looking to share intentional time together in a peaceful, grounding environment. We have the pleasure to lead groups of all kinds from community groups, corporate retreats to Bridal parties.
Why Is Forest Therapy Beneficial?
Spending intentional time in nature has been shown to reduce stress, support nervous system regulation, improve mood, and enhance focus. Many people leave a session feeling calmer, clearer, more creative and even grounded.
Beyond the science, forest therapy offers something harder to measure: a sense of belonging. A reminder that we are more connected to the natural world then separate from it.
Forest Therapy Through the Seasons
At Among the Trees, forest therapy is offered year round and shaped by the unique energy of each season. Weather dependent and location specific.
Summer experiences invite warmth, movement, and exploration including slow walks beneath treed canopies, sensory awareness, and shared moments of reflection.
Winter experiences embrace stillness and simplicity, where snow quiets the landscape and encourages deep presence, connection, and resilience.
Each session is guided with care and respect for the land. Our aim is to bring a renewed sense of belonging in nature to you and our guests.
